Promises in Black and White
I won't forget you
i held that promise
in my
filigree veined heart
as I drove past
those hallow monuments
and the Jesus statue
(the one with broken hands)
this sunday morning
and sat with the windows rolled down
and the music turned up
the world is bleeding color
until it's just 88 keys
in black and white
i'm laying down
next to gravestones
trying to remember
the dancing
(in the parking lot)
to music on the radio
kissing after closing
being so close
i can hear your heart
(racing)
the ashes that hung
in the march air
your words are dripping
ink (blood) on the page
as I drive faster
into this oblivion
